Directive of the Guarantor for the Protection of Personal Data
With the general provision "Identification of the simplified procedures for the information and the acquisition of consent for the use of cookies" (published in the Official Gazette n. 126 of 3 June 2014) the Guarantor for the Protection of Personal Data has identified methods simplified to provide users with online information on the use of cookies and has provided indications for acquiring consent, when required by law.
To protect the privacy of users and allow them to make more informed choices, the Guarantor has therefore established that, when accessing the home page or another page of a website, a clearly visible wording must immediately appear, indicating:< /p>
- that the site uses profiling cookies to send targeted advertising messages (if used);
- that the site also allows the sending of "third-party" cookies, i.e. cookies installed by a different site through the site you are visiting (if used);
- a link to a more extensive information, with indications on the use of cookies sent by the site, where it must also be indicated how to disable the acceptance of cookies by the browser used;
- the indication that by continuing to browse (e.g. by accessing another area of the site or selecting an image or link) you consent to the use of cookies.
What are cookies
Cookies are small text files that the sites visited send to the user's terminal (computer, tablet, smartphone, notebook), where they are stored, and then re-transmitted to the same sites on the next visit.
They are used to perform computer authentication, session monitoring and store information on sites (without the use of "technical" cookies some operations would be very complex or impossible to perform). But through cookies you can also monitor navigation, collect data on tastes, habits, personal choices that allow the reconstruction of detailed consumer profiles.
Technical cookies essential for the functioning of the website
This website uses session and persistent cookies, in order to offer a more efficient service to users. The use of these cookies is strictly limited to the transmission of session identifiers (consisting of random numbers generated by the server) necessary to allow the website's services and functions to be provided in a complete way.
The cookies used on the website avoid the use of other IT techniques potentially prejudicial to the privacy of users' browsing and do not allow the acquisition of data directly identifying the user. Interested parties who do not want to keep these cookies can delete them after browsing by simply going to the privacy settings of their browser and selecting the option to delete cookies.
As indicated by the Guarantor, technical cookies are those used for the sole purpose of "carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network, or as strictly necessary for the provider of an information society service explicitly requested by the subscriber or by the user to provide this service”; the Guarantor also indicates that "the users' prior consent is not required for the installation of these cookies".
Cookies used for aggregate analysis of website visits
This website makes use of aggregate analysis tools for navigation data which allow the website to be improved. In particular, Google Analytics, a system made available by Google Inc., uses cookies that are stored on the user's computer in order to allow the website manager to analyze how users use the site.
The information generated on the use of the site by the user will be transmitted and stored on Google's servers in the United States. Google will use this information for the purpose of tracking and examining the use of the website by the user, compiling reports on website activity and providing other services relating to website activity.
Managing cookies in the browser
Almost all browsers offer the possibility of managing cookies in order to respect user preferences, thus allowing them to be disabled and stored.
In some browsers it is possible to set rules to manage cookies site by site, an option that offers more precise control over privacy.
For example, in the Google Chrome browser, the Tools menu contains the Clear Browsing Data option. You can use this option to delete cookies and other site and plug-in data, including data stored on your device by Adobe Flash Player (commonly known as Flash cookies).
For more information, see the instructions for managing cookies in Chrome.
On the website of the manufacturer of the browser used it is possible to find the information necessary to change the cookie management settings.
Provision of consent
As indicated by the Guarantor "the continuation of navigation by accessing another area of the site or selecting an element of the same (for example, an image or a link) implies the provision of consent to the use of cookies". p>
